Day 20- June 6th
WE HAVE GREAT NEWS...We are going to court on Wednesday!!! Please pray for us at 9 P.M. Tuesday night (PST).
Now for the daily update...
Today was a gorgeous day here in Kazakhstan! It was 86 degrees and partially cloudy so we were very glad that we were able to go to the baby house in the morning instead of the afternoon. When they brought Katie out to us, we were in complete shock; she was wearing a short sleeve outfit, no jacket and just a little sun hat! (Aunt Amanda, that hat was bought just for you!) It was the first time that we have seen Katie dressed in so few layers since we've been here. We were extremely grateful for her cooler clothes because when we got outside, she was already sweating.
After a while of playing on the blanket in the shade, we got brave and took off the thick socks that Katie was wearing to let her cool down a little. It was so much fun for us to see her toes for the first time and to watch her play with them as if it was one of the first times she had ever seen them. She was so fascinated! We were also excited when we peaked through the snaps on her little outfit and realized that she didn’t even have a onsie on. We were finally able to see her cute little belly button for the first time.
When she fell asleep at three o'clock, we decided to lay her down on the blanket so that neither Sarah or Katie would overheat. It was so much fun to watch her lay there sleeping and be able to take a million pictures without either of us holding her. We were also able to take some awesome pictures of her adorable little feet. (Watch for a special "Picture of The Day" this Sunday; especially you, Joy!)
After getting home, Sarah took a nap and Kevin worked some more on the future Adoption page of our website (click here to see the progress so far). Later in the afternoon, we got dressed up and headed out to celebrate our 6th anniversary. Luckily, there is an English pub-themed restaurant within walking distance from our apartment. It was very nice being able to go out without our interpreter. Although the waitresses didn't speak English, they did give us menus in our language so we were able to order what we wanted.
When we finished our nice meal out, we walked over the river and met up with Jen, Jesse and Jen's parents who just arrived today. They were carrying with them a package from Kevin's mom that included an anniversary card, some movies for us to watch, and a beautiful baby quilt with images of Katie stitched in the center of the squares (see page two for a picture). We were so excited to have a wonderful, home-made gift to proudly display in our apartment. The other "anniversary present" we received was the exciting news that we will be in court on Wednesday morning (Kazakh time)! This was so encouraging because we had just been told this morning that we would not go until at least Thursday.
Well, that's about all we have to share for today. We're sorry there were not pictures yesterday, but we included two pages today to make up for it. We love you all and are so grateful for your prayers and encouragement.

Katie was a little distracted when Daddy tried to pose with her

"Don't these people ever stop kissing me?"

Fun in the sun

Always posing for a picture

"Don't you love the Hawiian hat, Aunt Amanda?"

"Wow! Toes! So that's whats underneath my socks!"
